Causes of premature loss of primary teeth and frequency of the utilization of space maintainers in children aged 6-8 years attending the School of Dentistry at the University of Cuenca during the period 2019-2022

Space maintainers are fixed or removable appliances whose main purpose is to maintain the space caused by loss of one more primary teeth, preventing migration adjacent teeth into edentulous space. Objective: To determine cause premature and frequency use in children aged 6-8 years attending Faculty Dentistry during period 2019-2022. Materials methods: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional retrospective study, through analysis 123 undergraduate clinical records orthodontic clinic University Cuenca with 78 boys 45 girls between ages 6 8 years. For bibliographic analysis, search strategies were used Pubmed, Scielo, Science Direct Google Scholar databases published 2015 2022.
